Home owners are sometimes skeptical on when to replace there heating and air conditioning systems, that’s why we have compiled few instances where replacement should be considered:
If you have areas of your home that are colder or hotter than the rest of the home this could be caused by torn or improperly sealed duct work. Your equipment could be functioning correctly but if all of the air is leaking into the crawlspace this could cause spaces in your home to be uncomfortable. In this case you would want to consider replacing the duct work.
In the summer if you notice an unusually noisy system it could be that the duct was sized incorrectly or there may be an internal problem with the air conditioning equipment.
Old inefficient equipment can cause your energy bills to be considerably higher and cost you in frequent repairs. By replacing with new efficient equipment you will save money. Remember that your heating and cooling equipment contribute to nearly half of the cost of your monthly energy bill.
If you only set your thermostat at one constant temperature consider replacing with a programmable thermostat. The benefit of a programmable thermostat is that you can set the temperature to adjust when you are not home or sleeping, which can in turn save you money on your energy bill.

Indoor Air Quality
According to the EPA the indoor air we breathe is 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. That’s a scary fact, considering we spend nearly 90% of our time indoors. The American Lung Association states that “The average American breathes 3,400 gallons of air each day, making ambient air pollution a major environmental problem.”

If you can answer any of these questions with “yes”, the likely cause of these situations is high levels of humidity. According to industry experts, average summer dew points in North Carolina can be 65º. The same experts have found that the ideal level of relative humidity in a home to be between 30% and 60%. Maintaining this level of humidity in the home ensures that your home is most comfortable and can limit the effects of many unwanted conditions and harmful contaminants. We offer various options to maintain ideal level of humidity, whether it be your entire home, basement, or crawlspace.
